Helen Julia
Helen Julia has been a professional singer from the age of 15 and has worked all over the country as an independent cabaret artist. At age 18 she was one of 5 acts picked for a place on the Scholarship Scheme ran by Haven Leisure. A scheme that meant she performed with top class acts at several Haven centres as she began to build up her performance portfolio. Helen then became lead vocalist in summer season working for David Lee and Rita Proctor in the Follies Review Show in Great Yarmouth in conjunction with LSA. Soon after she was discovered by Roger Kendrick and went onto sing for Royal Olympic cruise lines as lead singer in the floor shows.
Returning to the North Helen became a recording artist and wrote and recorded an original album with fellow musician Hughie Hewson. Helen than worked as a solo cabaret act touring the country before becoming a duo in “Final Demand”.
Helen completed her BA Hons degree in 2006 and as well as become full time lecturer teaching Musical Theatre she began work as a stand- up comedian working with Northern Based comedy group Scarlet Lights, this saw her become a semi-finalist in Hull Comedian of the year. Helen has also performed at both Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festivals receiving 4 star reviews from “Broadway Baby”.
After having a family, Helen is now returning to her singing career and is looking forward to performing cabaret for corporate events, special occasions, weddings, clubs and holidays centre’s
